Regional TV advertising is facing an uncertain future after ITV announced that it would be cutting the number of ‘micro advertising regions’ it sells from the beginning of next year. Naturally this has disappointed some advertisers, but unfortunately due to the increased cost of digital broadcasting a certain amount of regional advertising is no longer financially feasible for ITV. Television marketing agency Thinbox has recently started their own TV advertising campaign to highlight the power of television advertising to viewers. The ads, which have already become a hit, feature a rescue dog by the name of Harvey vying for attention of potential owners over a ‘cuter’ dog by showing them a video of himself performing various tasks such as driving and playing chess. Naturally, the people looking for a dog pick Harvey after seeing his advertisement. (more…)

This can provide a significant boost to the economy in towns and cities where there is a large student population, particularly early on in the term when student loans are burning a hole in the pocket of many. We’ve already discussed the power of online advertising in this blog, but it is certainly worth noting that the dominant social networking site, Facebook, has recently reported that many of the firms utilising their advertising service have significantly upped their budgets. This is largely due to the enormous advertising scope of social networking sites, particularly Facebook, which has a user base in the hundreds of millions. (more…)
